The Greatwood Gators were the first Greatwood community swim team founded over 30+ years ago!  The Greatwood Gators are a recreational summer community-based swim team founded in 1993 by Greatwood resident and avid swimmer, Steve Long.  Mr. Long, along with Greatwood residents, Cindy Rueter and Kay Armstrong, worked endlessly to help give the kids in our community an option for learning and swimming together!  Through their love and dedication to swimming and our Greaatwood Community, the Greatwood Gators were born!

Steve Long served as President of the Gators Swim Team Board from 1993 through 2000. Additional past presidents include Debbie Floyd, Bobbie Fontenot, Karen Smith, Tom Regetz, Lisa Hunter, John Kvinta, Beth Gandy, and Christie Stelling.

Since our inception in 1993, the Greatwood Gators have been part of the Southwest Houston Recreational Swim League and in 2014, joined West Houston Aquatics League.  The West Houston Aquatic League (WHALe) is a recreational summer league whose main purpose is to give children an opportunity to participate in organized swimming.

We look forward to each Gator season so we can spend time in the water and at the pool with our Gator friends and family having fun!  Registration for new families opens March 1st.  The registration link will be posted on our homepage!

The mission statement for the Greatwood Gators is to provide a structured and safe learning environment through fun and exercise through swimming while promoting a positive role in the community.

The Greatwood Gators are a 501c3 Not for Profit organization and all contributions made to the team support our mission.

The Greatwood Gators care about our community. Scholarships to cover registration may be available to families facing financial hardship.
